Today I am sooooooo excited to share with y’all everything that has happened recently. If you are a new reader or you forgot where I left off last time with the previous life update post, you can go to my “Updates” section here and find out everything that you’ve missed up until this point. Today’s update is so exciting because so many great things have happened since.
16 1/2 months ago I was working for a biopharmaceutical company in a lab. I wasn’t entirely happy with my position and felt that I needed to continue pursuing the career that I had always wanted, but was I ready to throw myself back into the dark abyss of school? Some of the darkest moments in my life happened while I was in college. A lot of it had to do with me having to entirely support myself financially throughout college. This includes paying for tuition, books, rent, bills, food, and transportation. There was a time when I had to have three different jobs in order to make ends meet. So before I decided to enter the MLS grad program, I really had to weigh the pros and cons.
My thoughts at the time were….
I had just graduated from college less than a year ago – was I financially, mentally, and physically prepared to go through all the stresses of school again and
for what…? Have I saved enough money for this? Can’t I just stay at my current full-time job and work my way up? If I do go back to school, am I going to have to get 3 jobs again? Can I even do that with the rigorous schedule that the program requires of me?
Fast forward 16 1/2 months later (now)….
HOLY SHIZ. Here I am. I am finally done with grad school, taken and passed all my exams, including the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) Board of Certification (BOC) exam!!! It was a very challenging and stressful grad program, especially during my finals and BOC exam period. I have never been under so much pressure to succeed in my life. I had so much riding on this. If I were to have failed, it would have been disastrous, but now that it’s all over, I can officially and proudly say that I am so unbelievably grateful that I did it. Furthermore, I am so blessed to have such supportive and loving people around me. Without them and y’all, I wouldn’t have made it. TYSM <3
I also got hired by my clinical rotation site and will be working nights starting the day after Memorial Day. It’s going to be one huge adventure trying to figure out my new sleeping schedule. #prayforme
I have been wanting a puppy for so long. I would talk about getting one to my friends and coworkers for over a year now and now that I am finally done with school, I figured this would be the best time to get one. Bebe is 75% Maltese and 25% Shih Tzu – at least that’s what I was told by the seller. No, I did not get her from a breeder, nor did I go to the shelter/Humane Society. When I was looking for a puppy, I wanted one that a purebred or at least mixed with a breed that didn’t shed a lot and was “mostly hypoallergenic”. There is no dog that is 100% hypoallergenic, but there are breeds that are known to do well with people who have dog allergies. Wait, do I have allergies to dogs? Nope. Remember, I am allergic to cats. However, I live with people who are allergic to dogs, so I felt that it would be best to get a breed that didn’t shed a lot and had less dander so it would be easier in the future overall.
Anyways, Bebe is my precious little lamb chop (that’s my little nickname for her). I love her to death. Her birthday is on Feb 28th. She is mostly white – her ears are tinted brown due to her Shih Tzu lineage. In an earlier updates post I had mentioned that I might start blogging about different things other than beauty. Well….Bebe was one of the things that I was referring to. I love blogging about beauty but sometimes I want to step out of that and do something different. So if you are interested to learn and read more about Bebe, look forward to it! You may see the “Bebe” or “Pets” category on the main menu some time soon.
He was born on Monday, May 15, 2017 – less than a week ago. I am so overjoyed to finally have a little nephew. I love my two nieces and spoiling them is my pleasure. I love shopping for my nieces because there’s always so many cute little outfits and accessories for them, but every time I pass the boy section, I’m just like “Awww..if only I had a nephew. These would look so cute *cough* ahem, I mean “cool” on him. Now, I finally do – yay!!! Both my sister and nephew are in great condition – resting at home. It going to be so much fun when my sister and her family move back to Austin. I will get to see them much more often!
