Last time, I tried the Limited Edition Koko Collection. I was drawn in by the gorgeous packaging. This time is no different. Kylie Cosmetics released two limited edition collections, the KKW and Vacation Collections. Both collections have special packaging, which is why I gave in to the hype once again. Can’t help it. Packaging gets me everytime. I also picked up some of the lip kits that are a part of her permanent collection. Those don’t have special packaging, but I gave in because on Cinco de Mayo, Kylie Cosmetics had a BOGO free promo for any matte lip kit, which extended over to the next day for any lip product. Crazy, right?! I couldn’t help myself. So today I am going to share with y’all swatches and first impressions of these lippies. I did get different formulas, but I haven’t tried out every lippie extensively yet, so I didn’t want to give a full review. I will also link the products to the Kylie website, if they are still available. Now let’s get started!
This collection contains four CREME liquid lipsticks. All of them are pink nudes that Kim Kardashian wears all the time. These nude shades are supposed to be flattering on all skin tones, but I only think this is the case for medium to dark skin tones. On light skin tones, the difference between each shade is very apparent. On medium or dark skin tones, I think it’s harder to tell the difference between shades. The names of each lippie represents a nickname that Kim Kardashian goes by.
This creme formula feels lightweight, but greasy and it transfers. I don’t know if “greasy” is the right word to explain it, but it feels like a gloss, but more slippery and not sticky. If I apply less, it won’t feel as slippery, but the pigmentation is already sheer, so with less product, it’s even more so.
This collection contains four VELVET liquid lipsticks. Again, all of these are nudes, but they don’t all have a pink undertone. Each one actually has a different undertone and is completely different from one another.
This velvet formula also feels lightweight but it has a satin, demi-matte finish. It still transfers, but feels more comfortable than the KKW set, because the product isn’t slipping everywhere. The color payoff is also much better. One layer is definitely enough.
When these lip kits first came out, there was so much hype and trying to get your hands on one was the hardest thing ever. That’s not the case now. When Cinco De Mayo promo was happening, I had to get my hands on some.
I love that these lip kits come with a liquid lipstick and a lip liner. The Candy K lip liner is the creamiest of the three and glides on. I could totally just wear this lip liner without its paired liquid lipstick. The other two lip liners are slightly drier and harder to apply. As for the liquid lipsticks, Candy K and Posie K apply equally nice, but Koko K is slightly patchy. I only applied one layer, so a second layer might help. This matte formula is totally transfer proof, but does make my lips feel dry – that’s expected though since liquid lipsticks are drying in nature. I don’t think this formula feels so dry that it’s sucking the life out of my lips, but it is drier than some other brands.
Also, I’m thinking about giving away the shades that I didn’t like or think it looked flattering on me. These shades I’ve literally used twice – the first time to try it and the second time for the swatch pictures. I really don’t think I’m ever use these shades again. So would y’all mind if I sanitized these products and put them in the giveaway? Let me know in the comments below and I’ll ttyl~
